NUS Giving

Scholarships

Scholarships reward the work of our outstanding students, and encourage them to reach still greater heights. Some donors choose to create scholarships for students in a particular discipline; others for students of a particular year; still others for students from a particular background. As always, NUS thanks you for giving us the freedom to disburse your gift according to our areas of greatest need.

When you give $150,000 (endowed) or $45,000 (expendable), we may honour your support by offering to give the scholarship in the name of your choice.

German-born Uwe Derboven worked in Asia for 30 years, but it was the 11 he spent in Singapore that were closest to his heart. In April 2006 he and his wife gave NUS two thirds of their estate to found the Francoise and Uwe Derboven Postgraduate Scholarships, which will cover tuition and stipends for Asian graduates who have proven their excellence in economics, law, computer science and medicine.
