The Wan family has made a S$518,000 gift in memory of Mr Wan Boo Sow and his wife, Madam Annie Tan. The sum includes S$256,000 to support the Wan Boo Sow Medal and Prizes, and S$262,000 towards the Annie Tan Medal and Prize. The awards recognise and encourage linguistic proficiency in both Chinese and English at NUS.
The Wan Boo Sow Medal and Prizes are awarded annually to four students, representing Years 1 to 4, who are majoring in Chinese Language or Chinese Studies at the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences. The Annie Tan Medal and Prize is granted to the outstanding female bilingual student in a graduating cohort.
Mr Wan Boo Sow was an alumnus of King Edward VII College of Medicine, a predecessor institution of NUS.
