Far East Organization has made a $325,000 gift to support the construction of a four-bed inpatient room at Viva-University Children’s Cancer Centre (VUC3), a world-class research and treatment centre for childhood cancers at the National University Hospital (NUH).
“We are heartened that our gift will support the establishment of a four-bed inpatient room at VUC3,” said Mr G L Yap, Far East Organization’s Executive Director, Property Services.
“We hope that this facility will enable young patients, their families and medical practitioners in Singapore and the region to access the best of medical facilities and expertise available for the treatment and care of childhood cancer,” he added.

VUC3 is a project of Viva Foundation for Children with Cancer, in collaboration with St Jude Children’s Research Hospital in the US, National University of Singapore and NUH.
Said Mr Yap: “Viva Foundation for Children with Cancer has been working tirelessly to improve medical care for children stricken with cancer – the second major cause of death among children – in Singapore and the region. Far East Organization is encouraged that we are able to play a small role in facilitating this admirable cause.”
Previously, VUC3 received gifts of $250,000 each from the Ian Ferguson Foundation and Mrs Christina Ong.
