NUS will have a new Vice-President (Endowment and Institutional Development) from 1 October 2008, the University said.
Mr Wee Sin Tho, currently the University’s Chief Strategist, Endowment Programme, will succeed Mr Chew Kheng Chuan, who will be leaving NUS to pursue other career opportunities after almost six years with the University.

Extending a warm welcome to Mr Wee, NUS Acting President Prof Tan Chorh Chuan said: “Sin Tho brings a long and rich experience, and valuable networks, from the financial sector to his new role as Vice-President (Endowment and Institutional Development).”
Mr Wee, an NUS alumnus, was the founding Chief Investment Officer of the NUS Investment Office which he established in 2005, a leadership role which he performed with great distinction and success. He is also a non-executive Director of Keppel T&T Ltd. and Hwa Hong Corporation Limited.
Earlier in his career, Mr Wee had served as Chief Executive Officer of HLG Capital Bhd., Managing Director of United Industrial Corporation Ltd., President of Vickers Capital Limited and Chief Executive Officer of Vickers Ballas Holdings Limited.
Prof Tan also thanked Mr Chew for his service to NUS, saying: “On behalf of the University, I would like to record our deep appreciation to Kheng Chuan ( “KC” ) for building a strong foundation for private giving to NUS.”
“As founding Director of Development, KC helped establish our institutional capability for tapping into the philanthropic goodwill of donors and alumni. His contribution to the record growth of the NUS Endowment has been vital, and he had built up a Development Office which is a leader in the field of philanthropy to higher education in both Singapore and Asia,” Prof Tan added. “We thank KC and wish him the very best for the future,” Prof Tan said.
