NUS Giving

Foundation Gifts

Historically, foundations in Singapore have been among the most generous promoters of the NUS vision. We hope to build on this tradition by encouraging philanthropic support from regional and global foundations as well.

To discuss making your foundation gift, call Vice President, Endowment and Institutional Development KC Chew at (+65) 6516-1085, or e-mail kc.chew@nus.edu.sg.

In 2005, we received $29 million from the Tan Chin Tuan Foundation, which endows four Tan Chin Tuan Centennial Professorships and funds collaboration with Universiti Malaya in Kuala Lumpur. According to foundation council member Ms Chew Gek Khim, granddaughter of Tan Sri Tan Chin Tuan, “As a longtime supporter of NUS, my grandfather is delighted to see the great strides in its achievements and standing demonstrating that it is fully worthy of the support of The Tan Foundation.”

Said foundation chairman Dr Lee Seng Gee: "Education has been the abiding object of support for the Lee Foundation. The work of NUS helps us to fulfill our deep desire to improve lives through education."

A school in NUS was first named after a benefactor in 2003, with the naming of the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music in honour of a $25 million gift by the Yong Loo Lin Trust. In 2005, the Trust followed with $100 million to the Faculty of Medicine, which NUS has named the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine in appreciation of such unprecedented generosity.
