Rita Balachandran
I wanted to set up this professorship so that the children in Singapore and the region will benefit from improved care as a result of better orthopaedic education. Bala himself had a strong interest in paediatric orthopaedics and I know he would be very happy to have this professorship named after him.
Rita Balachandaran
Mrs Balachandran made a gift of S$1.5 million to set up the N. Balachandran Professorship in Paediatrics Orthopaedics in honour of her late husband, renowned orthopaedics surgeon Prof N Balachandran. Prof Balachandran was instrumental in shaping and developing the practice of orthopaedics in Singapore.
